PRESS: Ministry may stop flights of Pegas Fly to Tajikistan

MOSCOW, Apr 9 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Alexander Yurchik and his Tajikistan’s counterpart Ganjalzod Rahmon have agreed to ban flights between the two states for airlines failing to operate during the winter season, business daily Vedomosti reported on Monday.

A corresponding document was signed and sent to airlines on April 5.

The 2017–2018 winter season ended on March 25. Russian air carrier Ikar, the owner of the Pegas Fly brand, affiliated with Turkish travel company Pegas Touristic, is the only airline which started flights to Tajikistan in the summer season.

A representative of Pegas Fly confirmed that the company had received the document, but said it does not plan to stop flights due to no sufficient legal ground.

The person also said that the decision is “unprecedented” for the market and said that he hopes this is misunderstanding that will be settled.

Pegas Fly has already sold 5,000-6,000 tickets to Tajikistan until the end of the summer season, the representative added.
